Cannes Film Festival offers a lot of red carpet moments considering the fact that it lasts almost 2 weeks. There are many events inside the festival and we always keep our eyes wide open to spot all the important fashion moments. As always, celebrities like to surprise us. The fashion-forward audience of the Cannes Film Festival is always thirsty for a fresh fashion inspiration. As we are getting closer to the end of the 70th Cannes Film festival, it’s time to talk about the most unexpected fashion moments spotted on the red carpet so far.
Kendall Jenner Wore Socks and Denim Shorts on The Red Carpet
Kendall has a rich risk-taking fashion history. The visible La Perla thong that got all the attention at the Met Gala paired with the barely there dress was just a small announcement of what could be next.
Kendall first appeared on the Cannes Film Festival’s red carpet wearing a white gown with a mile-long train by Giambattista Valli. She teased the fashion critics with the decision to pair her elegant heeled sandals with socks.
The second appearance took everybody by surprise because the popular model showed up on the red carpet in denim shorts paired with a dramatic voluminous top with one shoulder and floor-sweeping train. The entire outfit is from Alexandre Vauthier’s Spring Runway Show that took place in Paris back in January.
The Cannes Film Festival banned flats on the red carpet two years ago. Anyway, they never said anything about socks and shorts. We can’t say for sure if Kendall is going to initiate a series of new bans, but she can certainly pull off any outfit.
Bella Hadid Had to Fight Multiple Wardrobe Malfunctions
Bella wore an astonishing pale pink satin silk gown by Alexandre Vauthier Couture. The gown featured a plunging neckline, mile-long train, and an extremely high slit. All three things seemed to make Bella’s appearance on the red carpet harder than ever. First, she tripped over her train and needed a moment to take control over the situation.
Then she was spotted holding and adjusting her revealing top.
Lastly, she accidentally bared her nude underpants multiple times while striking a pose for the cameras. Besides all these malfunctions, Bella made an unbeatable fashion statement on the Cannes Film Festival’s red carpet.
Elle Fanning Brought Unicorns onto The Red Carpet
Unicorns were all over social media lately, especially Instagram. Makeup artists, hairdressers, and even beauty companies went crazy over the unicorn trend. We witnessed amazing makeup art that resembles the gorgeous mythical creature, unicorn hair trend, cosmetics tools and makeup in the unicorn spirit and even colorful unicorn frappuccino. Somehow the red carpet was immune to this trend and we barely had a chance to spot the gorgeous animal among the celebrities.
The young actress and model Elle Fanning officially brought unicorns on the red carpet with the mind-blowing dress by Vivienne Westwood. The hand-painted dress was literally a full-time job for the designer and her team.
Elle’s Cannes dress took 10 people and 300 hours to make. The actress stated that she was not trying to push the unicorn trend further. She described herself as “a unicorn flower child at heart, mixed with a schoolboy and the occasional Cali surfer dude.” Vivienne Westwood explained that the candy pink unicorn painted on the dress was Elle’s idea.
Marion Cotillard Showed Up in Jeans on The Photocall For Her Movie Ismael’s Ghosts
Marion took the fashion critics by surprise with her dressed-down look for the photocall of her movie. The new mom showed up in a pair of multi-turn up jeans.
The unusual pair of jeans featured 5 turn ups on each leg. She paired the jeans with a full-length cover up that featured a high slit. Marion finished the look with nude strappy heeled sandals with a peach undertone. She copied the entire look from Y/Project Fall 2017 RTW Show. The outfit made Marion look like she was going to take a leisure walk around town.
