Americans love football. At least the version of football that does not include running after a ball that is black and white and round and kicked all over the stadium. No, Americans love the pointy ball in brown and the game that includes pile-ups and touchdowns. It includes a single kick and a whole lot of holding in hand. It is not what the rest of the world calls football. But it is football to Tommy Hilfiger, the all-American fashion brand that is more based on lifestyle products than anything else. Thomas Jacob Hilfiger may be 64 years old, but he is still doing a pretty awesome job in making his brand known worldwide. And we love the Tommy Hilfiger fall 2015 campaign that involves a whole lot of football and awesome pictures taken under the sun with the buff boys. Whether the models are crowd surfing over the players or looking fab in team photos, this is a pretty rad line-up that features those awesome signature Tommy Hilfiger colors.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the label, which means that the celebrations would not be complete without a totally American game. The campaign has been dubbed “Team Hilfiger” and photographed by Craig McDean in Monterey Park, California. The models featured include Victoria’s Angel Behati Prinsloo, alongside Julia Hafstrom and a team of good looking men to keep the gorgeous gals company. There will also be exclusive clips from behind the scenes with Prinsloo and the campaign will be breaking ground globally on August 3, while the print ads are expected to run in the September issues of Vogue, Elle, Vanity Fair, InStyle, Marie Claire, Glamour, and Harper’s Bazaar.
Funny enough, the strong US dollar has hurt, more than helped, the brand’s international business, with the first quarter of this year showing an 11.1 percent decline, the earnings before interest and taxes decreasing a hefty 20.1 percent! Luckily the second quarter has been making up for the hardships, which have racked the multimillion dollar label that operates all over the world.
So what is included in the Tommy Hilfiger fall 2015 campaign this time around? A cashmere clad Prinsloo for one, barring the model herself! The fall fashions will always be meant for the university or college students, girls and boys heading to classes and just thinking about the academic year while trying to survive off frozen pizza and milkshakes. So the whole prep scene of this campaign is pure gold in our opinion, humble as it may be. This is Prinsloo’s second campaign with the brand and we love them both for it; whether she’s hoisted up by a brood of football players or posing alongside her friends, the girls clad in cashmere, stripes and plaid, the gorgeous Angel looks perfectly comfortable in her own skin. For a campaign that resembles a back to school magazine advertisement, it is quite captivating for the preppy side in all of us who enjoy this type of fashion rather immensely.
