It has been a good year for Topshop so far, especially thanks to its many collaborations and A-list brand ambassadors. Model and It-girl Taylor Hill has just joined the list, as the English retailer has tapped Hill for its newest Topshop fall 2016 ad campaign.
Styled by Topshop’s creative director, Kate Phelan, and captured by iconic fashion photographer Giampaolo Sgura (who lensed the Topshop summer 2016 ad campaign too), Taylor Hill’s edgy and urban-chic attitude got perfectly translated to the collection’s must-have staples, as well as reinforced by the campaign’s setting, New York.
The 20-year-old model also perfectly represents the label’s younger and fresher audience, that is also likely part of Hill’s astounding number of followers on her main social media accounts (she can count on a grand total of 4.2 million followers on Instagram alone). As a consequence, young women of her age, who follow her, take her clothing choices as a source of inspiration for a possible outfit, a system that definitely appeals to the British giant.
The campaign is going to be featured on both internationally publications and social media, granting a full coverage of the Topshop fall/winter 2016-17 collection all around the world.
The campaign comes with an accompanying short video featuring Hill’s adorable dog Tate too, and takes us and Hill out for a walk in the city, focusing on the collection’s glam-rock pieces. Taylor Hill is seen sporting a studded, ‘bad girl’ leather jacket with rockabilly floral patches, and a polka dot dress, the airy fabric and slits of which keep the overall look in the edgier, rock ‘n’ roll-inspired side.
Messy hair and a natural makeup complete the Colorado native’s look, whose poses don’t make it hard to understand why Kate Phelan chose her as a Topshop brand ambassador.
“Taylor walked in the February 2016 UNIQUE show – she is a social supermodel and a young woman with style and personality; she is every Topshop girl rolled into one. Whether she is a tomboy in jeans, glamorous in cocktail, or pretty in polka dots, Taylor is Topshop’s ultimate girl crush;” declared Phelan regarding both Taylor Hill and the campaign.
As for Taylor, who recently signed with Lancome too, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, as she is following in the footsteps of equally talented models, who saw their careers considerably improve also thanks to Topshop. Karlie Kloss, Cara Delevingne and Bella Hadid all acted as Topshop’s brand ambassadors before Hill, and they now all are extremely successful.
“It feels really cool to be Topshop’s campaign girl. I never thought I’d do campaigns, especially not for Topshop. I’d always see the big models doing it and never thought I would, but here I am,” Taylor said in a statement.
We are keeping our finger crossed for her! Meanwhile you can shop Topshop’s newest designs at the brand’s official website.
