Dutch designer duo Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren continue to delve deeper into their search for conceptually conscious designs with their bridal collections as well, with their Viktor & Rolf bridal spring 2018 collection being all about timeless silhouettes and artful details.
Like Reem Acra’s bridal spring 2018 collection, Viktor & Rolf’s exudes empowering fashion notes too, a leitmotif we could fairly already state will keep on going strong throughout the whole bridal 2018 season. There was also another trending motif Viktor and Rolf had something to say about, and it is the bridal jumpsuit. Greatly cleared through customs by Christian Siriano, who is undeniably one of the biggest bridal jumpsuit fans, Viktor & Rolf’s jumpsuits are just as dreamy as the line-up’s other staples, yet inevitably more minimalist chic in their lines and cuts.
If there’s one common fil rouge that links all of the various Viktor & Rolf bridal spring 2018 collection’s staples together, that is the fact that although varying in styles from one another, all of them feature imposingly artful conceptual silhouettes, the cuts and lines of which flawlessly toy with proportions making each one of the proposals magically unique.
In playing with the proportions, Viktor & Rolf mainly focused on two main different patterns through which their conceptual visions of fashion could be righteously celebrated, namely the asymmetrical ruches and the layered figures. While the former helped the flared gowns become more structural and geometrically pleasing, often resembling abstract, reversed roses, the former infused the whole collection with Viktor & Rolf’s signature haute couture-approved aesthetics.
Like their haute couture and ready-to-wear collection, this latest Viktor & Rolf bridal spring 2018 collection could be easily described as elegance at its finest, even when showcasing the mini cocktail/bridal dresses to wear for the reception (or for the whole ceremony if you are looking for something less pompous). More and more brides-to-be are, in fact, looking for a double option for their wedding day, and Viktor and Rolf couldn’t exempt themselves from treating us to an ampler kind of versatility, too.
Last but not least, we cannot help but praise how skillfully Viktor and Rolf managed to meet their respective more conceptual and more pompous visions of the bridal season halfway, delivering a fairytale-like array of halter gowns embroidered with flower appliqués and shimmery accents poetically described by the duo as “flocked sequins”. Delicate and romantic, these proposals are literally to die for.
With this collection being Viktor and Rolf’s second take on the bridal fashion, we cannot wait to see what the Dutch duo has in store for us in the years to come. Under these premises, we bet they will hit it big season after season!
