Famous for their couture creations, Viktor & Rolf designers Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren are getting into the bridal collection arena in a partnership with Justin Alexander. While these Dutch designers designed a collection through a collaboration with H&M for budget brides in 2006, and they also dressed Princess Mabel of Orange-Nassau in 2004 for her royal wedding, the new Viktor & Rolf fall 2017 bridal collection will be significantly different. Brides seeking an avant-garde look for their big day will be more than pleased with their new options.
By working with Justin Alexander, they are adding in the expertise of one of the leading people in the bridal gown game. Justin Alexander is a well-known and respected designer and manufacturer of some of the most popular wedding apparel that is mid to high end on the fashionable scale. With this collaboration we are getting the expected couture styling in a way that will interest fashion-forward brides-to-be.
The Viktor & Rolf fall 2017 bridal collection had 25 looks overall, each a very different wedding gown or wedding ensemble that will appeal to several different bridal styles. All of the looks feature the signature sculptural and dramatic appeal Viktor & Rolf is known for. There are oversized bows and flowers adorning several of the wedding gowns and wedding outfit options.
A very voluminous gown named ‘Flower Bomb’ is a nod to the fragrance produced by the couture fashion house and featured 3-dimensional crepe and floral appliques that diluted towards the hem. The different silhouettes offered were dramatic in the extreme options that they offered from collared shift dresses to a pair of jumpsuits and a tailored tuxedo.
There are so many options for as many different tastes from voluminous to generously detailed beading and an unrestrained sculptural style that provides a depth of character for each individual look.
For the more classical bride, there are mermaid gowns and fit and flare dresses and for the more risqué, Viktor & Rolf has created a few mini dresses that feature beading that provides complete coverage. One of the mini dresses features a loose silhouette and a collar and was paired with a veil that hung longer than the hem of the dress creating a very cool and elegant overall look. This duo is known for providing the unexpected with a twist of elegance, couture and architectural tailoring.
The asymmetrical ruffle gown has already been mentioned as being one of the most beautiful gowns on trend for brides in 2017, thanks to the dedicated detailing of the ruffles. Every look has an avant-garde appearance, providing the couture feel that brides will seek out in the Viktor & Rolf fall 2017 bridal collection to obtain.
