Almost a year ago plus-size fashionistas were more than happy to know that Spanish fashion label Mango was launching a new line for curvy women. Finally, they would not pass by the clothier with utmost pity any more; instead they gained a great opportunity to become their favorite brand’s enthusiastic customers. Let us throw a retrospective look at the line’s creation history in 2014, which is quite interesting. In 2013 a petition was started on a well-known platform, Change.org, where thousands of plus-size women were requesting Mango to stop discrimination and give them a chance to enjoy wearing the brand’s goodies. The petition managed to collect more than 35000 voices and as a result the company’s president decided to launch a new line the designer of which became his niece, Violeta Andic. I suppose that now it is quite clear why the line got the name Violeta by Mango.
The face of the line became the stunning Spanish designer/TV presenter Vicky Martin Berrocal, who definitely has some resemblance to the famous Italian actress Monica Belucci. Berrocal has starred in the line’s campaigns many a time; she has gone even further by creating a capsule collection in tandem with Violeta by Mango. Berrocal continues staying with the brand, this time appearing in the Violeta by Mango fall 2015 campaign, breaking all those molds that plus-size women should avoid wearing clinging pieces. Actually, breaking the molds by Berrocal was a must as with Violeta by Mango tight-fitting jeans, dresses and shirts on, she looks way too sensual and eye-catching to be ignored.
The Violeta by Mango fall 2015 campaign offers a wide range of feminine pieces, which include not only jeans, classic shirts, dresses and coats but also must-have bags, shoes and accessories. The palette is typically autumnal, the predominating shades being black, white, grey, navy blue, walnut brown and bordeaux. A closer look at the collection makes us understand the fall 2015 campaign’s main concept; that is to excitingly accentuate plus-size women’s body silhouettes and to demonstrate how chic they are in the right pieces. The jeans are what mostly emphasize the concept. We are observing a range of super slim-fit jeans of different shades and designs. A pair of cool jeans with splash-design is for a mature woman, who wants to become a teenager from time to time.
Warm coats and jackets do not stand out with their innovational solutions; instead, what we see is classic pieces with designs so familiar to us. However a chic long vest will catch the attention of any extravagant woman with its unique craft – a bordeaux one with rich floral embroidery and a suede belt.
A typical business lady cannot pass by the brand without noticing the black-white classic attire, which is worth investing in. With Violeta by Mango you are sure to create a romantic look, as well slipping into a bordeaux tight fitting midi dress. Plus-size women can also enjoy this year’s trendy cowboy-style jacket and fringed cross-body bag. Violeta by Mango proves us once more that the plus-size silhouette is much more feminine and sensual by including only high-heels in the collection, which come to be in various designs and styles. To sum up we cannot but notice the collection to have been inspired by the ‘70s, a period when diversity and eclecticism were playing leading roles.
