We Are Kindred’s Cuban-Themed Resort 2017/18 Collection at MBFW

One of the biggest fashion events in Australia is the Mercedes-Benz fashion week. Every May there is a great excitement in the air because traditionally many Australian fashion brands will present their resort collections at MBFW. The Sidney Fashion week will run from May 14-20 at Carriageworks. The official Mercedes-Benz designer for this year is Dion Lee and he had the honor of being the first to show his designs. Lee debuted at the MBFW in Australia in 2009 and since then has established himself as the most awarded fashion innovator from Australia.

The MBFW offers fun activities outside of the show program. Many talks, workshops, and seminars are available for those who want to dive in to the fashion industry a bit more. There are three scheduled leadership seminars this year where established fashion experts will share their knowledge with the attendees. Tickets for the seminars and other activities are available on Mercedes-Benz’s website.

Among the many well-known brands and designers on the list is the brand We Are Kindred. For the first time this year, MBFW will have onsite trade showrooms named as “The Suites”. The idea of these showrooms is to give the unique opportunity to the buyers to shop the clothes that they liked from the runway. This way they don’t have to wait, look for the clothes online or buy them from third parties. Buyers can purchase the looks directly from the designers they love. One of the brands that will be available at “The Suites” is We Are Kindred.

We Are Kindred is an Australian brand created by two sisters with a single vision. Lizzie and Georgie Renkert established the brand in 2014 after 30 years of collective experience in the fashion industry. Their designs are a celebration of the graceful woman who likes to look cool at the same time. The bohemian touch brings an effortless chill note to their creations.

The two sisters understand what a woman with a tight schedule would wear. Therefore they design fashion-forward pieces that are comfortable. Their clothing line covers both day and night wear. Lizzie and Georgie like to work with light, pleasant fabrics that feel good on the skin and turn them into stylish pieces of clothing. Their goal is to offer both trending clothes tied to a specific season and timeless basics suitable for any occasion.

Thanks to the enormous support from many leading fashion magazines, and We Are Kindred’s celebrity clients, the brand turned into one of the most popular and most successful Australian clothing brands. Among the celebrities who enjoy wearing We Are Kindred’s clothes are Jessica Alba and Isabel Lucas.

We Are Kindred Resort 2017/2018 Collection will be presented on Wednesday. This collection is full of fun and playful designs that will boost your energy and will make you want to dance in the hot summer days and night. The collection is named Floridita, after Ernest Hemingway’s favorite bar in Havana.

According to their co-founder Elizabeth Renkert, the collection resembles Bianca Jagger and Eva Mendes enjoying the afternoon sun.

We want our girl to exude both old and new world glamor,” she said.

We Are Kindred’s goal was to create a versatile collection that celebrates women’s power.

“The collection is versatile and lends itself to so many looks and occasions,” Lizzie said in an interview with Vogue. “We see women wearing these looks worn back with jeans, to a formal occasion, to a day club and at the beach. We want to make women feel beautiful and empowered, but at the same time maintain a touch of sexy Bohemia.”

The collection truly breathes in the Cuban spirit and Renkert promised that their show will bring the spectators in the heart of old town Havana. The company took great care of the details that will help them reach an authentic atmosphere. They will use traditional music, garments, lightning and set to achieve a Cuban ambiance characteristic specifically for Havana.
