Just in time for the celebration of love coming up in the next month, Wildfox, that vintage inspired women’s knitwear brand from Los Angeles that we so love, has released the breathtaking Wildfox Couture spring 2015 campaign and named it Gypsy. The slogan? She’ll steal your heart. That is certainly one way of advertising the women’s inherent confidence in her own beauty and power over men that this collection has captured perfectly. After all, the company itself has been named after the wild side of the foxy gal that hides deep within every female.
The inspiration behind the Wildfox Couture Gypsy spring 2015 collection is all about escaping the horrors of the world and living off the land, fearless girls with a passion for life and the need to keep moving, doing what they can to survive and living only for another and themselves. Boys are to be hypnotized, money and items to be stolen and jobs to be picked up and tossed away on whim. It’s the ‘20s that are celebrated, when we are most carefree, with few responsibilities and fewer packs of baggage weighing us down. The collection is all about freedom: the freedom to run away the last second or quit your job and never look back. It’s a selfish time and that selfishness in itself should be celebrated in a certain way. When asked about which pieces from the Wildfox Couture spring 2015 collection every girl should bring home, it’s the ponchos and the long johns that Wildfox founder Kimberly Gordon points to.
The gypsy girls look happy, relaxed and positively comfortable in the oversized sweaters in tribal colors, the typical Wildfox tees with long sleeved light sweaters underneath and white striped navy ponchos that scream warmth as much as they embody the comfort expected. Hair in hippie or gypsy style, strong eye makeup and lots of fur on which to lay, this image reminds us of days long past when we had not a care in the world and the odd job from time to time would be enough to tide us through to the next month’s rent. Blue long johns, white sweatpants, soft jeggings, and lots of furry little slipper boots are enough to ensure a lazy Sunday feels good, even now!
Comfortable onesies, leather boots and hair styled in cornrows, lightly braided and left to look as wild as can be make the next image all the more interesting. Plus, wearing those onsies out in the wild is a rather intriguing choice, but one we may as well embrace, so long as we need not enter any form of society. Comfort speaks volumes and the freedom to walk outside in your sleepwear, well, that says a lot for us more closed-off liberals who may find it a strange decision. Who said we should be confined to actually dressing up before leaving the house anyway? We’re 20, gypsies and out to conquer the world, our own way. And damn, we look good no matter what we wear!
