For his Pre-Fall 2018 collection designer, Yigal Azrouël explored the artistic side of his work. He is well known for the feminine silhouettes and ultimate elegance. This time, Azrouël decided to show a different side of him, by involving more graphic elements and more complicated cuts. His recognizable glamour still stayed the same, but with an increased dose of chicness.
Yigal found the inspiration for his latest collection in the work of Nir Hod. The Israeli New York-based artist portrays highly-realistic paintings that include a hint of irony. That is how the designer got the idea to show irregularities in his always perfect designs. He only needed to change details in the most subtle ways to achieve this goal. You can see those tiny imperfections in asymmetric cuts, cutouts, and eye-catching buttons.
You can see Azrouël ‘s abstract approach in most of the designs. The dresses vary in style and length. There is a section with more elegant ones that feature embroidery, intricate lace, and appliques. They are ideal for a special occasion when you want to stand out in the crowd.
Asymmetry is in the center of attention in the collection. Yigal found the perfect ways to implement it in his playful designs. That is the second part of the collection made of chic dresses with fun details. From little black dresses that are anything but ordinary to vibrant floral ones, he managed to get his designs out of the comfort zone.
For Pre-Fall 2018 Azrouël didn’t offer many separates. His collection consists of gorgeous dresses in different lengths and styles. There are a few standout looks when it comes to separates. The first one is a vibrant floral ensemble in black, white and red. It features wide-leg pants with chic unbuttoned studs on the sides. The blouse is also oversized and includes side cutouts on the sleeves.
The second outfit is more sophisticated. There is an asymmetric black blazer decorated with long fringed detail on the side hemline. The deep V-opening gives a sexy touch to the look. Yigal included a simple black belt on the waist and added only one lapel on the blazer.
The designer should definitely experiment more with his designs because everyone was pleased to see his playful side. The Pre-Fall 2018 collection is meant for trendy ladies that know how to pull off a statement piece. Several seasons ago, Azrouël decided to ditch runway presentations and stick to intimate showrooms. That is when he started exploring his other, more artistic side.
