While the stars dress up to the tee attending the Zac Posen fashion show presenting his eponymous label’s fall/winter 2015-2016 fashion line, a breathtaking Naomi Campbell makes her grand entrance like a proud prom queen, wearing a Zac Posen full volume ruby colored flocking taffeta ball gown that would have made Cinderella jealous. According to Posen, his muses for the Zac Posen fall/winter 2015-2016 rtw show “were as disparate as Grace Kelly and Chaka Khan.” It’s about the elegant meeting the fierce, the beauty and the beast in every woman. He had tried to retain the elegance of proportions while giving way to a romantic mood that is perfect for the week, considering it does fall during the Valentine’s Day and Family Day holidays.
Glamour is his thing and Posen does it very well, as we could clearly see on the runway yesterday. It was the dynamic movement that the designer aimed for, while having his models twirl about for added effect. The fabrics were played with quite nicely and the final effects were fantastic, with deep V necklines and wide cuts highlighting the décolletage and the slit-like cut-outs giving the dresses the flounce that normally cannot be found.
Zac Posen, the 34-year-old American fashion designer from New York City, loves to make a spectacle and this time around was no different. Walking down with Naomi Campbell on his arm was a good way to remind everyone that his big break was found after a dress made for her changed multiple hands of fashion insiders. She was his ticket to fame and it truly is great to see that he does not let this fact be forgotten. The show was truly a show, with a very ladylike Rihanna in attendance and the whole thing appearing to be more like a movie about fashion than an event within the fashion world itself. “I draped most of the clothes myself on the weekends, so it’s very personal,” he said preshow. This of course means that he was quite mindful when he included the cinched plum fur chubby and pencil skirt (which looks quite amazing, by the way), the cashmere coat and cardigan, as well as the bonded trouser that shows off the leggy length of a woman. They might be a little easier to fit in than the skinny pants that will have you looking perfect if only they come up to where the waistline should be. We probably love those swingy jersey dresses most for daywear, particularly the plum and orange though the black goes with any occasions, but Posen probably will have a man’s mind reeling when he is faced with his lover sporting a snug secretary-style sweater tucked into a sequined skirt. There was only one ball gown among the mix but that was all that was needed to really make the whole collection pop.
The red swishing dresses with their midi length hems and high collars look perfect for the average woman looking to have a pretty red dress to dance to Chris de Burgh’s famous Lady in Red song on the arms of her man; the reds will evolve into orange then teal coloring and magnificent black designs, finishing off with multiple breathtaking Red Carpet style full-length dresses. Gorgeous, to say the least!
