There is daywear! We are literally popping the champagne and dancing the jiggy because well, the Zuhair Murad spring/summer 2016 collection elaborately released during the Paris Fashion Week includes daywear! Up until now, we were nearly always left mesmerized by the evening gowns that we can see gracing the red carpets that would be coming up from January onwards. Today, we can finally say that our own personal wardrobes, among the garments we shall be wearing during the daylight when the sun is shining bright, will be pieces from the infamous Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad. Comparing only to Elie Saab, this is one artist deserving of the praise we adorn him with, whose imagination extends to only the best in dresses and feminine styles that drive us up the wall, to the moon and back.
The inspiration? A sailor on the high seas! Fitting for a Mediterranean-born man with the ability to turn simple cloth into a work of art. He takes the stripes and splashes on some embroideries, adds some prints and sequins, the kisses representative of lovers on a port, while skater dresses come out cute but very down to earth. He still has the glittering gowns, which is why we shall never put Murad’s designs aside.
It is impossible not to fall in love with the Zuhair Murad spring 2016 designs, especially when there is floating organza on hand. Suits in sailor style means navy with white stripes along the hems and lower arms, pretty gold buttons accenting the beautiful fit of the ensemble, all perfect for the captain of the ship. Red and white stripes complemented the black and white versions as well on dresses, skirts, tops and sweaters, sometimes appearing two in one in a single outfit.
The major colors throughout were white, red, gold, black and a little bit of navy, which appeared on everything from suits to dresses to rompers and jackets, buttons and shows. It was not so much the fisherman look as it was the yacht high life that Murad encompassed here. There were satin scuba materials and a whole lot of pretty necklines, from the rounded giving the illusion of off-the-shoulder to the plunging Vs, the shorter than short jumpsuits bringing the sexy to the nautical world. After all, why not have some fun on that yacht?
The sirens on the Yachts were appealing as the rest, alluring in their beauty as the satin scuba transformed into a solid red gown. Bejeweled gowns and contrast stitching really took our breaths away towards the end as the focus shifted and the beauty of the ladies on board the sea cruise showed off their sea legs. White gown or golden, black or embroidered with coral, we know that we will be seeing Murad on the red carpet as well as on the streets!
As for the kisses, apparently women in each port keep blowing them, meaning the lipstick marks in jacquard, embroidery and sequins are certainly not out of place. On the contrary, they just add to the love that is Zuhair Murad. Even the more monochromatic knits featured some kip motifs that were embedded in with the mesh materials it was constructed from.
