The twisted updo itself comes in so many versions, from tousled and effortless ones to more elegant, polished ‘dos. Whether you choose to make a side or middle parting, a looser version or a slightly tighter one, this hairstyle can definitely help you stand out in the crowd.

To start styling a twisted updo, apply some hair wax, then create the parting (deep side, side or center). Depending on your choice, you can also turn to a rat tail comb to make a clean parting. Once done with this step, roll the front section of one side into a twist and pin it at the nape of the neck. Repeat the same action on the opposite side. Once both sides are done, loosely pull the hair into a low ponytail and start twisting the hair up, tucking the ends in. As a final step, secure your updo into the place with bobby pins and apply some hair spray.
