The twisted rope braid requires having long hair and even if you don’t have it, you can easily add a few layers of hair extensions, which come with clips. Here you need to make sure to secure them properly, so that the hairstyle will stay for the proper period of time.

Start with clean hair, separating two sections of hair about an inch each from the top. Those two sections need to be twisted. On the way as you go, you will have to add small sections of hair with each additional twist. The twist should be created moving the hair from the face and not bringing it towards.

When you get to the neck part, you need to get another two-part section next to the place you finished your first twist and add those two sections to the twist. In the same manner you will need to add more sections as you go, getting all the hair into the twisted braid. But when doing this you will need to use a special trick: for the sections started from the neck, you need not only to twist the sections to each other, but also twist each section separately and to the opposite direction than the double-twist. This will give a chance to keep the rope braid from falling apart.

Once you’re done with the braid, you can try to pull and loosen the twisted hair sections to add more volume to the style. This will also add softness to the twisted rope braid, if you’re one of the heavy hair owners. The end of the braid can be secured with a clear elastic band.
