If there is one thing that may get a human being super excited and hyperactive, it is that debuting no matter in what sphere of life. Today’s debutant is the LA-based infused-with-bohemian-twist fashion brand For Love & Lemons, debuting its first ever swimwear line. When the creative minds behind the brand, Gillian Rose Kern and Laura Hall were running their first business of lemonade stands, they didn’t even guess that the way they should pass in the future is so long and adventuresome – from ready-to-wear naked dresses to knitted retro apparel to sensual lingerie pieces. This inspiring chain has always screamed to be continued and the scream has in the long run reached the lemonade girls with the launch of the For Love & Lemons swimwear resort 2016 collection.
Inspired by French Riviera style and Brigitte Bardot, the For Love & Lemons swimwear line includes everything from sexy bikinis to retro style one-pieces and featherweight cover-ups. It is the model Alyssa Miller, who is sporting the staggering swimwear pieces in all their glory, garnishing the lookbook pages with her sexy images, photographed by Zoey Grossman. The brand stays absolutely true to its never-ending, perennial bohemian and comfy, yet sexy and flirtatious style, keeping on playing with delicate lace, scalloped edges, lace-ups, and frills.
When it comes to lace the first thing that may cross our mind is the lingerie pieces with lacy trims, but when it comes to the fashion brand For Love & Lemons we are supposed to find ourselves gazing at lacy pieces literally stuck between nightwear and swimwear. Some of the lacy pieces, like the black bikini, with the bra demonstrating a uniquely cut neckline or the burgundy one, where delicate lace has been teamed with frills, just another not-typical-of-swimwear designing solution, seem to lead us up the garden, making us doubt whether it will be adequate enough to wear these lacy treasures on the beach. But if FL&L is your cup of tea, adequate will it be, for sure.
The new swimwear line a la For Love & Lemons is not only the sensual festival of lace, but also of super deep plunging necklines, as if the swimwear pieces themselves are not showing enough skin. One-pieces are conventionally to be called the thing for minimalistic and conservative girls, but if you stumble upon the unconventional Gillian Rose Kern and Laura Hall, the cliché is broken at the drop of a hat. Whether we look to the powdery rose body hugging one-piece with plunging neckline and open back design or the black lacy bustier-imitating one with transparent strips stretching down at both sides and again featuring uniquely designed plunging neckline, we are captured by the designers’ exceptional ability to show so much naked body, yet staying so much far away from vulgarism and so much near to bohemian sexuality.
The white and burgundy red bikinis are to all appearances the only pieces to iterate other brands but again to stay within FL&L free-spirited style, while the black or violet floral pieces with bottoms cut in a geometrical form and designed with a strap at the back side and then shaped into a bow at the belly are to bring about an innovational design in the swimwear zone.
Noteworthy are black and white lacy cover-ups whether appearing as a one-piece with long trumpet sleeves or separates in the guise of a crop top and a midi skirt or a crazy-party-worthy cover-up with an amazing half moon neckline design. And again we are masterfully misled by FL&L – are they really just cover-ups or much more, girls?
