Whenever it comes to the last days of November/first days of December, we all know there is one fashion show that steals the spotlight, namely the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Although the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2016 edition took place in Paris on Wednesday night and won’t air until December 5th, 10 p.m. on CBS, we can already browse through every single look from the show, just to increase our anticipation before it actually airs.
Aside from the looks, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2016 featured a particularly appealing cast, which combined affirmed supermodels such as Adriana Lima, with some of the world’s leading generations of emerging top models, whose names include, among others, Kendall Jenner and the Hadids, Bella (who walked the show for the first time ever) and Gigi. As for the music performances, Bruno Mars, The Weeknd, and Lady Gaga conquered the stage, and we bet their performances won’t go forgotten for sure.
Back to the looks, the 2016 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show’s proposals included staples that are surely destined to become must-have it-items, along with breathtaking iconic bras, such as the $3 million Fantasy Bra, worn this time around by Jasmine Tookes. Overall, the show’s common theme centered around eccentric colors and dreamy patterns, as it alternated multicolored, jocose combinations of hues with cascades of crystals and ombre appliqués.
For its 2016 edition, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show depicted a sort of dark princess theme, with the show’s signature wings being abstractly structured, mostly dark-toned and infused with mysterious, charming vibes. Of course, sensually curve-hugging garments in black and with sheer fabrics were to be found as well, and were paired with feathery appliqués for the ultimate extra sultry factor.
The first things one notices while browsing through the show’s pictures is that the Victoria’s Secret design team managed to skillfully translate some of this winter’s main trends to lingerie, mainly focusing on sensually elegant elements that, moreover, help balance and elongate the figures.
That is why, among the many lace embroideries and silk appliqués, lace-up strings, crewnecks and even turtleneck details were featured, the patterns of which also played a dynamic contrast with the show’s more athleisure-inspired staples. Cropped sweatshirts, long varsity socks and sports bras had their time to shine, too, reminding us that Victoria’s Secret is all about diversity.
Other recurring themes featured during the Parisian Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2016 were ethnic motifs and urban-chic inspired outfits, translated here to lingerie pieces through geometric patterns, miniature fringes and tassel embellishments, as well as see-through raincoats accordingly.
The former got also revisited in a more “preppy in the Nineties” sort of style, with mini furry jackets and miniature dogs ironically accentuating the theme. The latter was similarly renovating for the show, as it helped the show to fully embody its mysteriously sexy allure, yet in a more sub-urban, city-approved kind of way.
With all that versatility and playfulness, we cannot wait for the show to air!
