Marc Jacobs fragrances have always stood out with their whimsical design and flair, and so does the designer’s newest scent, titled simply ‘Dot’. Despite the fact that the acclaimed designer works for three labels, he still has time and energy to some up with pleasant surprises for his fans. Thus a new makeup line and a new scent are on the way.
“Anything to me that is part of the joy, the ritual, of getting dressed – things that women enjoy like bags, shoes, fragrance, clothes, make-up – that’s what fashion’s about for me. I love the opportunity, wherever there is one, to adorn, to decorate, to scent, to dress. That’s what fashion’s all about. It’s not necessary, it’s something you want – it’s a fancy and a whim.”, Marc Jacobs stated.
Apparently, the designer’s new ladybug-themed perfume has been inspired from polka dots, which frequently appear in the luxury brand’s fashion. The scent is actually a newer version of the already popular Lola and Daisy scents. As a sister scent, the Marc Jacobs Dot fragrance vividly looks like the Daisy, embellished with charming ladybug dots, but smells like the Lola.
Despite the obvious similarity with the Lola fragrance in terms of defining notes, Dot features a more tropical allure. The new fragrance is composed of the base notes of coconut water, vanilla, driftwood, the heart notes of honeysuckle, jasmine and orange blossom, beautifully complemented with the sophisticated bouquet of red berries and fruit notes.
Developed by Annie Buzantian and Ann Gottlieb and licensed under Coty Prestige, the new Marc Jacobs fragrance will be available in 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum versions and in matching body products. Dot will debut in August, 2012.
