Instagram makeup artists are literally on fire. They keep surprising us with their mesmerizing makeup looks. The artists find inspiration in the most unexpected places. Lately, we had a chance to see a lot of nature-inspired makeup looks. You probably have seen the out of this world terrarium makeup trend that a young makeup artist from the UK made it popular.
Recently Instagrammers started the colorful watermelon makeup trend. Luckily makeup artists don’t use actual watermelons on their face. They just bring vivid red, pink and green shades to their eyes and lips.
Ragnhild Skjeldnes is a 23-year-old makeup artist from Norway who tried this trend. You could probably guess what her favorite fruit is. Since she couldn’t finish a watermelon by herself she decided to honor this tasty fruit through her makeup. The young makeup artist got the idea for the watermelon eye makeup from her sister. She created a triangle slice on her eyelid and painted her lower lash line with a green eyeshadow. To intensify the effect she coated her lashes with green liquid eyeliner.
“I started with one piece of Scotch tape from the outer corner of my eye and placed it with an about 45-degree angle on the eyelid,” she explains. “Then, I did the same from the inner corner, so they created a triangle shape on the lid.” – she tells Allure.
She used a liquid lipstick by the affordable makeup brand Colourpop in the shade Doozy. To apply the lipstick on her eyelids she used a blending brush. Ragnhild recommends using a small amount of liquid lipstick to avoid messy situations. She created the seeds with a black liquid eyeliner.
The makeup artists Cass Isel Lopez created a watermelon inspired smokey eye. This is probably one of the most creative smoke eye looks we have ever seen.
The makeup artist Nasia Belli drew a juicy slice of watermelon on her eyelid.
The watermelon makeup trend transferred to the lips as well. The makeup artist Amaia Mendo, better known as @conextradequeso on Instagram knows the secret behind the watermelon lips. She used two lipsticks by Kat Von D to get the perfect watermelon red color.
The shade Bachelorette which is a dark fuchsia and the shade Outlaw which is a vivid red were mixed together on Amaia’s lips. She used a glitter glue to glue the green and black glitter on her lips. The makeup artist warns that the lip gloss is the messiest part of this look and you have to make sure that everything is well set before you apply it.
