The crackerjack cosmetics brand MAC is yet again playing for high stakes. This time, the brand is shuffling its deck and teaming up with newly rising idiosyncratic figures in the music world – Tinashe, Halsey, Dej Loaf and Lion Babe to bring about the new MAC Future Forward spring 2016 collection that will rather fall under a collage category. The collection will include just four makeup products, each one of them carrying one of the singer’s names and from stem to stern expressing her individuality, style and temperament.
It has become somewhat a pretty habit for the company to throw in with the most talked-about and reputable figures in the music world to launch lovely makeup lines, among them being such names as Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Ariana Grande just to name a few. This might, of course, be labeled as a very effective means to get more bums on seats howbeit MAC has never felt the shortage of clientele, but more MAC-addicted personalities out there will be so much more inspiring, really.
“It feels like a great thing to be able to support artists who are breaking through but aren’t necessarily at the top, to push them forward,” Senior Vice President and Group Creative Director James Gager says about this new MAC strategy, “We’ve always done that sort of thing with fashion designers, and to me, it’s most interesting to introduce these artists, as well as our M·A·C fans to new people.”
Each of the artists stands behind her product’s packaging design with her name on it, while the shades and textures have been worked out in collaboration with MAC Cosmetics team. The collection will be launched in limited edition at maccosmetics.com on different dates the opening announced to be on March 17 with Tinashe Eye Times Nine Palette, followed by Halsey Matte Lipstick on March 31 and MAC Dej Loaf Lipglass on April 14, while MAC Lion Babe Liquidlast Liner is summing up the whole line on April 28. Take a close look at the collection’s ingredients if you are a great fan of one of these four sweet girls or else you go bananas over audacious looks.
MAC Tinashe Times Nine Palette ($32.00) (Limited Edition)
The 23-year-old American singer, songwriter, producer, dancer, actress and former model Tinashe, who is doing mixure of urban, rythmic and pop music with some influences from indie, alternative and hip hop music, describes her own makeup style more prone to penetrating eyes than full lips. So it’s no wonder that her collaboration with MAC has resulted in an amazing eyeshadow palette containig the whole 9 shades ranging from light green and pinked gold to deep purple and even black with gold pearls, with the finishes ranging from veluxe pearl and satin to lustre and matte. Tinashe herself has designed the artistic abstract package of the palette and has handpicked the shades, as well. Moreover, each of the shades has received its name from Tinashe’s R&B tracks like, for instance, Black Water, All Hands on Deck or Vulnerable. Check the shades below:
• All Hands on Deck – light green shimmer (Veluxe Pearl)
• Black Water – black with gold pearl (Veluxe Pearl)
• Midnight Sun – shimmer mocha (Satin)
• Revelry – mauvey purple grey (Fatin)
• Flame – mint silver shimmer (Veluxe Pearl)
• Gleam – barely pinked gold (Lustre)
• Vulnerable – soft pearly purple (Lustre)
• Amethyst – deep purple with pink pearl (Satin)
• Quarry – soft muted plum brown (Matte)
MAC Halsey Lipstick ($17.00) (Limited Edition)
The 22-year-old American electropop artist Halsey is better known for her blue images appearing in different shades of blue either on hair or on lips. So Halsey+MAC collaboration is quite logical to bring to our view a matte lipstick with gunmetal blue shade housed in a blue package with Halsey’s signature on it.
MAC Dej Loaf Lipglass ($15.00) (Limited Edition)
The 25-year-old American rapper and singer Dej Loaf has confessed that once she was among the anti-makeup apologists and has just recently fallen for makeup. So as a person who has just jumped on the bandwagon of makeup-addicts this shimmering nude lipglass comes to be as the best illustration of her personality and style.
MAC Lion Babe Liquidlast Liner ($21.00) (Limited Edition)
One of the members of the neo soul duo Lion Babe, Jillian Hervey captures anyone’s attention with her lush bronze curls imitating a lion’s mane and the same shade skin tone. So her calling card shade could be best incarnated in golden shimmering liquid eyeliner, which the artist strongly recommends to apply also as a cheek bronzer, lip stain and even a body bronzer.
