Did you think MAC Cosmetics would leave you with a super colorful makeup collection this spring and no alternatives for a glam party? Of course, you didn’t! And you were right, because you deserve new makeup for a new year! It looks like MAC is pretty superstitious, because it has released the MAC Year of the Monkey makeup collection for everyone, who believes in the Chinese horoscope and those who don’t.
The collection is already available online and in some MAC stores. Go check out the closest store to see if 2016 is your lucky. So, what’s included in the collection?
MAC Penultimate Eye Liner ($21.00 / £18.00)
A proper makeup collection always has an eyeliner included, because that’s the ultimate trend all cosmetics brands are using at the moment. MAC’s new Penultimate Eye Liner is affordable, women who like their cat eyes intense black are encouraged to try this one, it might become a permanent resident in our makeup bag.
• Rapidblack – true black
MAC Eye Shadow ($16.00 / £13.00)
You know eyeshadow colors are what MAC is best at! If you’re looking for more fun and party colors, make sure to check out the Chris Chang x MAC makeup collection, but if bright flashy colors are not your thing, then stick with us. These shadows are the party mix, an ideal combo for a smokey eye for Friday night. Too much? Skip black or gold, and combine either with the creamy white shimmer. Don’t take the Year of Monkey literally, stay true to the extent you’re comfortable with.
If there is any way you might use all three in one look, make sure to get all these shades, because eyeshadow textures are a key factor when blending a smokey eye.
• Mylar – creamy-white with shimmer (Satin)
• Goldmine – intense gold with shimmer (Frost)
• Carbon – intense Black (Matte)
MAC Lipstick ($17.00 / £15.50)
This is where you have the most shades in the collection, starting from the intense red and the coral red for special occasions, ending with the soft beige for everyday chic. There is also the grapefruit pink, if you have a sweet date in between. The red shades come in matte, so you can compete in the latest lipstick texture mania!
• Frou – soft beige with silver shimmer (Glaze)
• See Sheer – grapefruit pink (Lustre)
• Lady Danger – vivid bright coral-red (Matte)
• Russian Red – intense bluish red (Matte)
MAC Powder Blush ($22.00 / £18.50)
Unfortunately, there is a very limited choice when it comes to the blush powder… that is, you have only one option and it’s the red-orange Modern Mandarin. It’s actually not an easy color to adapt to; some complexions just don’t look good with this shade. Make sure to test it on your skin before buying.
• Modern Mandarin – red-orange (Satin)
We could wish for more shades, but let’s face the reality, it’s MAC – better quality, and less quantity. We hope the MAC Year of the Monkey 2016 collection falls right into your style characteristics, and if not, check back for more later; now is the time for new releases.
