In the era of technology, anything is possible. Every single field in our lives is becoming more connected to the world of technology in ways we don’t even know it. Fashion labels are making strong efforts to use the best of it, to make their products more available and alluring for customers. Since presenting a campaign the old-fashioned way is not fun anymore, high-end brands are constantly looking for a way to leave a strong impression. Olivier Rousteing from Balmain decided to embrace the latest innovations in digital technology for his Pre-Fall 2018 ads.
Remember back in the day when you were obsessed with Milla Jovovich from “The Fifth Element’? Well, it seems that Olivier Rousteing from Balmain was completely infatuated with the movie and the star as well. For the luxury brand’s Fall 2018 ads, the designer tapped the muse from his childhood, Milla Jovovich. The iconic model and actress starred in the movie exactly 20 years ago, so the two decided to celebrate the anniversary in the best possible way.
If you are obsessed with Queen B just as much as we are, you will be more than psyched to hear today’s news. This year’s Coachella is now known as Beychella thanks to the singer’s iconic performance. And since Beyoncé doesn’t do ordinary, she tapped Olivier Rousteing from Balmain to create custom pieces for her to wear on the scene. Once she appeared, everyone was in awe, both from her powerful voice and the statement looks.
Olivier Rousteing is taking Balmain places that no other designer has. The innovative wunderkind has done so much with the brand, which is very impressive. Their long-anticipated high-end collaboration with Victoria’s Secret is finally out. Olivier designed a limited-edition capsule for the lingerie brand. Dubbed #VSxBalmain, you can expect many unique looks from this exclusive line.
“The Victoria’s Secret team have been invited to my Balmain shows many times, and I have also been a guest on the VS front row. A year ago they came to me and said, why don’t we do something together? We came up with the punk theme, which is something really new for me. There are so many reference points for punk, from books to editorials in Vogue. I regrouped a lot of ideas I had in my mind for Balmain, as I channel a lot of rock ‘n’ roll in the collections.’- Rousteing told Vogue.
Balmain teased the collaboration many times since the brands made the announcement. Olivier’s designs feature the recognizable elements, heavy embellishments, and a punk theme. You will see a lot of studs, mesh, plaids, safety pins and more. The most expensive piece in the line is the bejeweled Swarovski Long Line Bra that costs $248. There is a matching pair of panties, also decorated with Swarovski crystals that are available for $48.
For each bra, you will find panties in the same style. You can buy the items as a pair, or get them separately.
Balmain x Victoria’s Secret capsule will be available both online and in-stores. The official release date is November 29. This is the first time that the lingerie brand is collaborating with a luxury fashion house on a runway and retail collection. So far they’ve only partnered with Brian Atwood who designs VS’s spectacular shoes. But they’ve always been exclusive for the runway. This year once again Atwood had the honors to introduce his latest work designed for the most sought-after show in the world.
The Victoria’s Secret fashion show will air on November 28 on CBS at 10 p.m. Tomorrow you can take a sneak peek of how Olivier’s designs look on the gorgeous Angels and choose your favorite. That way you can follow the mesmerizing extravaganza and see most of the limited-edition pieces up-close. You will be very surprised to hear that everyone can get their hands on the capsule since the prices start at $28.
Back in October, the lingerie giant Victoria’s Secret announced a partnership with the French fashion house Balmain. The creative director of Balmain Olivier Rousteing was tapped to design custom looks for the lingerie’s brand annual show that is set to happen in Shanghai. Besides the looks for the show (that are expected to be spectacular), the two fashion authorities will surprise us with a capsule collection that will be available in Victoria’s Secret stores just a day after the long-anticipated show. Each year Victoria’s Secret spares about $12 million to put this spectacle together. So, we can expect even more extravaganza now that Rousteing’s designs will appear on the runway.

You would be surprised how many things Balmain and Victoria’s Secret have in common. Balmain is well-known for its bodycon extremely sexy designs. Whenever Balmain holds a fashion show, Victoria’s Secret Angels and regulars are invited to model the pieces. Both brands design for women who aren’t afraid to show some skin and be comfortable with it. The Victoria’s Secret x Balmain collab will treat these ladies with pieces they can wear from the bedroom to the streets and parties. Victoria’s Secret collaboration with Balmain is the first time the lingerie brand has collaborated with another fashion house on an entire collection.
Both brands previously teased what we should all expect on the runway show in Shanghai that will happen very soon. Now they released more videos with a much closer look at the designs. Rousteing’s signature pieces will infuse the show with a couture vibe. The designs carry Balmain’s intricate aesthetic. You can see a lot of Rousteing’s craftsmanship and spiked details. One of the videos shows an oversized heavily beaded and sequined jacket paired with fishnet tights and over-the-knee boots. There are also more spiked-up leather looks and accessories.
Victoria’s Secret Angel Jasmine Tookes also revealed her punky Balmain wings. The model will wear heart-shaped wings made of safety pins.
“One secret that you guys probably don’t know is that the Angels make their own wings. This took me like 800 hours to do this,” Jasmine tells Vogue on her fitting for the show.
Well, they don’t, but she added a few extra safety pins to feel included in the process. The model went from pink to punk for her upcoming Victoria’s Secret show wearing one of the looks that Balmain did for the brand. More to come on November 28 at 10.p.m.

Last night’s Balmain collection had a very deep, emotional meaning. Olivier Rousteing showed a more mature, impressive collection full of opulence.
The choice of venue was the astonishing Palais Garnier. For Olivier, this was an emotional moment that he’s dreamed of since he was 10. At that age, Olivier and his adoptive parents visited the Opera for the first time. At that same moment, Olivier knew what he wanted in life. Thanks to his restless work and supportive parents, his biggest wish became reality last night. Guests found a special note on their seats. It was the exact same letter that the designer wrote to his older self, 20 years ago after that visit.
“We came first for a visit, and we saw the ballet. I was really impressed. I said, ‘That’s what I want in my life, that’s what I feel. ‘ La splendeur Parisienne. And I would never have believed that 20 years later, I would have the chance to show my collection here. To have the chance to design for the ballet‚Äö√Ñ√∂‚àö√ë‚àö√ÜI went on the stage with the dancers in front of 2,000 people! It was the dream come true . . . and having Brigitte Macron wear my clothes!’- Rousteing explained.
There was something different about Balmain and Olivier Rousteing last night. The recognizable edgy vibe was still there but done in a completely other direction. For Spring 2018 the designer upgraded Balmain’s daywear in such a way that no one else could. The colors were black and white, with small hints of electric blue, red, silver and gold. Frills, sequins, crystals, beads were all there to spice up the pieces. Olivier designed a mind-blowing 82-piece collection.
Balmain’s army of supermodels was back again. This time, Olivier prepared an extensive and stunning list. The show had an impactful start thanks to the biggest models from the 2000s. Natalia Vodianova opened the Spring 2018 collection, followed by Natasha Poly, Kasia Struss, Cindy Bruna, and Bianca Balti. But that was only the start. These icons were accompanied on the runway by some of the most beautiful Victoria’s Secret Angels. Supermodels and Rousteing’s friends Alessandra Ambrosio, Sara Sampaio, Romee Strijd, Elsa Hosk, Karolina Kurkova proudly wore his designs.
Olivier’s Spring 2018 collection was a proof of how brilliant and ingenious his young mind is. Even after five years in Balmain, every single collection is different.

Just a few months ago, Balmain and the creative director Olivier Rousteing announced that they were going to collaborate with L’Oréal on a lipstick collection. Now, the first looks of the exclusive collection are available. The two brands posted just enough photos on social media to make everyone even more anxious and excited about the launch.
From what we know from before, we are going to enjoy 12 new, special shades of lipsticks. These 12 goodies will be divided into three different color themes. And like with any other campaign, Olivier doesn’t do ordinary. For the exclusive lipstick line, he hired a few of his Balmain army girls. Rousteing had a big role in the making of the line, starting from the shade selection, packaging and more. The collaboration will bring new shades of the iconic L’Oréal Color Riche lipstick, reinvented by Olivier’s magic touch. This is their best seller globally and every three seconds one of the Color Riche lipsticks is sold. Three of the shades will be “jewel edition’.
The first shade that was already promoted on social media is the “Confidence’, which looks astonishing on Doutzen Kroes. It is a very fun, shimmering lipstick, with a rose gold hue.
The next one is presented by the Korean model Soo Joo. It is probably one of the most beautiful lipstick colors you’ve ever seen. The dark plum shade is extremely bold and named “Freedom.’
And last but not least, the “Balmain Instinct’ shade. This is definitely the color you would never think of as a lipstick, but here it is. It is an amazing military green shade presented by Ysaunny Brito.
This is the first time that the luxury fashion house is teaming up with a makeup company, and it seems that they found the perfect partner. L’Oréal is one of the biggest and most popular cosmetics brand in the world and is constantly implementing huge changes.
The exact date of the launch is still not known. All we know is that it is going to be some time in September. The jewel edition shades will be sold only in selected stores. Until then all we can do is enjoy all of L’Oréal X Balmain teasers, and plan which shades we are going to buy. The line will definitely be limited edition, so the excitement grows even bigger.

Combining tech and high fashion is becoming more common. When it comes to collaborations between tech and high fashion, headphones seem like the most obvious choice. Headphones are a piece that can turn into a fashion statement with the right design. That’s why Dr. Dre tapped Balmain to design his latest collection. On the top of that, he invited the youngest Kardashian-Jenner sister to star in his campaign. The beauty mogul Kylie Jenner is the face of the Balmain x Beats by Dr. Dre latest campaign.
“No matter what you’re going through, when you put on a song that you love, and that you just connect with, it can change your whole mood and just lift you up. Even if it’s just for a few minutes…I love that escape that music gives us,” Jenner wrote.
The campaign includes pictures of Kylie rocking the headphones somewhere in the middle of a jungle as well as at what seems to be a desert location. The company also released short videos to present the new headphones.
The theme of the collaboration is “urban safari.” The special edition collection includes a new design on both Beats Studio Wireless headphones and Powerbeats 3 Wireless headphones. The first style is classic over-ear statement maker, while the other is an in-ear style that is made for workouts. Both styles come in 2 different colors: Safari which has a soft pinkish tint and Khaki which has a green tone. The headphones that Balmain designed feature a gold metallic finish on the ear parts and over-ear band. They come with a luxury suede case that features a gold plated Balmain logo and coin zipper pull. The young fashion wunderkind Olivier Rousteing who is the creative director of Balmain is behind the headphone design.
“Seeing music and fashion as completely intertwined simply reflects how my generation grew up‚Äö√Ñ√∂‚àö√ë‚àö√Üwe simply cannot conceive of one without a full helping of the other,” said Rousteing in a statement.
The Balmain x Beats By Dr. Dre headphones are pricier than the regular styles. The Beats Studio in Safari is priced at $599.95 while the Powerbeats 3 in Safari cost $249.95. Just for the records, the regular Beats Studio headphones cost $379.95 while the Powerbeats 3 retail for $199.95. Even though there aren’t any tech upgrades to the Balmain x Beats By Dr. Dre headphones, they are pricier because of the unique fashion-forward design. When it comes to collaborations like these, the focus is on the design, not the tech upgrades. The Balmain headphones are not just a gadget, but a strong fashion statement.
This isn’t the first collaboration between Beats By Dr. Dre and a fashion brand. In the past fans of the brand had a chance to enjoy stylish headphones designed by high-end fashion houses such as Alexander Wang and Fendi and famous brands such as Hello Kitty, MCM, and others. Besides fashion brands Beats By Dr. Dre has collaborated with A-listers like Nicki Minaj, Pharrell Wiliams, Karlie Kloss, Lebron James and many others.
The collaboration between Balmain and Beats by Dr. Dre is expected to exceed all the previous collaborations. Balmain is known for its experimental designs that have the “wow effect’. The headphone collection is also keeping up with Balmain’s distinctive aesthetic. Since Olivier Rousteing showed up on the fashion scene, celebrities went crazy over his designs. He joined Balmain in 2009 and became the creative director of the fashion house 2 years later at the age of 25. Now he is one of the celebrities’ favorite designers. Kylie Jenner is just one of the fashion influencers who is often spotted in Balmain’s cool designs. Considering the brand’s rich and popular consumer base, the latest Beats By Dr. Dre collection is expected to sell like crazy. The high price points won’t be a problem for Balmain’s wealthy fans.
The headphones are now available online at apple.com and balmain.com. The headphones are also sold at the fashion house’s stores in New York and Los Angeles.

Just a few weeks after announcing his collaboration with the Paris Opéra, Olivier Rousteing shared some of the designs on Instagram. The ambitious young designer is taking the fashion brand Balmain to a whole new level. The 32-year-old Rousteing is one of the greatest fashion wunderkinds, who has an impeccable taste in art and glamor.
Olivier was invited to design for the Opéra by Sébastien Bertaud, who is a choreographer and a huge admirer of Rousteing’s work. The costumes are going to be showcased for the first time during the choreographer’s new ballet called “Renaissance’. The premiere of the show is scheduled for June 13 at Palais Garnier, but luckily Olivier already gave everyone a sneak peek. Sébastien is a big fan of what Rousteing does, and how he managed to bring so much modernity into such a luxury fashion brand. In his ballet show, unlike the others, the female ballerinas have a very important role. This is very similar to how Olivier celebrates powerful and strong women, and this is another factor that influenced Sébastien’s decision.
“I wanted to propose a ballet of today,” he says. “As a choreographer, I feel the responsibility to make choices that push our own identity into the future. I was wondering which designer could be the next one for this amazing institution ” and for me, Olivier was the only one. This wonderful company is, in a way, like a classical army. It’s all about this new generation, new energy.”- Bertaud says.
Balmain is one of the many fashion houses that has designed for this powerful institution. The biggest French designers of all times such as Christian Lacroix, Karl Lagerfeld, Coco Chanel, and Yves Saint Laurent have previously designed magnificent costumes for the Opéra. Even Pierre Balmain, the founder of the eponymous fashion brand had the honor to do the same thing. Olivier admires this collaboration and hopes that he will be an inspiration for young designers in the future.
“I think what you feel in these clothes is that it’s really couture, which for me was important. When you have the chance to sketch for the Opéra de Paris, you know that there may be a young designer in 30 or 40 years who will be like, ‘Oh, that was Balmain!’ It’s what I feel today when I see the Christian Lacroix costumes”- says Rousteing.
The most important thing for the successful designer was to create costumes that are going to depict the style of the Opéra and be comfortable for the dancers at the same time. The fashion-forward style with an overflow of pearls and embellishments, recognizable for Rousteing, is perfectly implemented in the costumes. Olivier says that he really enjoyed working with all of the 22 dancers.
From what Olivier shared so far you can see that the designs are all about glamor and luxury, the things that Olivier loves. All of the designs are in a soft nude color and feature a lot of pearls, crystals, beads, and sequins. The female dancers are dressed in amazing long-sleeved embellished leotards and cropped jackets. The males are dressed in sparkling tights that match the leotards of the ladies. They also have matching shiny jackets.
The costumes really resemble Balmain’s Autumn Collection from 2012. At that time Fabergé eggs were the main inspiration for the young designer. The designs had to be adjusted to the dancers’ needs so that they don’t impact their movements. Olivier and the dancers had to meet halfway. He had to come up with designs that are lighter than his usual ones. The dancers, on the other hand, will have to wear costumes that weight a bit more than what they are used to. Although some of the designs are heavy, Bertaud and his dancers will train even harder to make everything work. He says that he really respects what Rousteing does, and he doesn’t want to limit his creativity. There are compromises from both sides, but the end result will definitely be breath-taking.
Limited-edition makeup and clothing collections are very popular, this here is some spectacular news. The globally-famous makeup brand L’Oréal Paris gave the announcement that they are going to team up with the luxury fashion house Balmain to release a completely new and unique line of lipsticks.
The amazingly talented creative director of Balmain, Olivier Rousteing, responsible for creating some of the most spectacular dresses and hanging out and dressing up the most popular ladies and men in the fashion industry (the Kardashians, Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid, Zayn, Kanye, Bieber) is reportedly creating a line of 12 lipsticks. The collection will be based on 3 basic colors, and each color will have four separate shades.
The L’Oréal x Balmain capsule collection will be presented in September right before the next Paris Fashion Week when it will hit the Balmain Paris stores and possibly some other retail stores around the world. While L’Oréal has been very quiet regarding the collaboration, Olivier hasn’t wasted a minute to express how excited he is about his latest creation. What we can see from the photos and videos that he’s posted so far, there is a wide variety of colors, including different shades of pink, red, and purple. Some of the lipsticks are matte and others are metallic. Knowing Olivier’s breath-taking clothing designs everyone expects that the packaging will not lack awesomeness. This young genius has involved himself in every single part of the creation of the lipsticks, including the color and shade selection, the packaging, and even the ad campaign.
“Colour is not just in the palette of my clothes, it’s also in the girls. Some [shades] are really good on white skin, some are really good on Asian skin, some of them on black skin. Each group [of Balmain women] is really powerful but in different ways. This Balmain Army will become the L’Oreal Paris army as well.”- Olivier stated during his interview for Business of Fashion.
This is the first time that luxury French house has worked together with a beauty brand and everyone’s expectations are set very high. The Balmain dresses and clothes are way out of our price range, all we can do is wait until September and hope that we’ll be able to get our hands on the probably fabulous lipsticks.
