The gorgeous Salma Hayek, the woman we know as an incredible actress and the resident hottie, has apparently taken up chemistry as well and gone for turning her science speak into a real business venture. Salma Hayek has officially remade her own cosmetics line, getting down and dirty in the whole concoction aspect of the products, picking out the best ingredients for using in her top of the line collection. She is beautiful beyond belief, shining on the red carpet and off, so we are sure that using her products on our own skins will only add to our own appeal in our day-to-day tidings.
Back in 2011, Hayek and CVS Pharmacy co-created her Nuance Salma Hayek brand of cosmetics that was sold through the retailer, something she hopes to jump start once again. Color cosmetics are being replaced by 37 new stock keeping units, something we should be seeing soon enough in March as the distribution is expected to reach over 5,000 doors. This is expected to leverage out the competition for CVS, while elevating the brand’s name to new heights and creating exclusivity in certain items to bring in the populace to certain parts of town.
We never knew Hayek to love the ingredients that go into each and every one of her cosmetics products, though. It appears that while she understands fully what each will be of benefit for, she can also count out exactly what has been used in the making of each piece she holds up. The lipstick, for instance, contains green tea and mint, which increases circulation and keeps the blood pumping in, smoothing out the lips from lines, accentuated by the fillers.
Most of the pieces, she explains, are more like masks and treatments for different parts of the face, especially the lips. “We have many other ingredients that not only are pumping but that are actually moisturizing the lips like a very strong lip treatment, much more than a lip balm,’ she told WWD. “It’s not just emollients; it’s actually a mask for the lips, like a treatment.’
In Salma Hayek’s eyes, wearing makeup should not cause problems but offer more solutions than one. It should moisturize and protect the skin from the elements; it should add nutrients and keep to mostly natural ingredients. Even the eyeshadows have chamomile and argan oil, the concealers are with ginger and green tea, and everything has a tendency to bring in vitamins and special effects to the skin.
Hayek’s favorite ingredient comes from her native Mexico and is the tepezcohuite from local tree barks that have been used to treat burn victims because of its strong regeneration abilities. “You can get it only in the market in the witchcraft stands where they sell all the herbal medications that are coming from shamans and specialists in Mexican herbology.’
She may be nearing a half century in age, but Hayek is a woman to be reckoned with in the movie and beauty industries, as she knows not only how to act impeccably, but also to create beauty with gusto and flare, giving us our youth through her knowledge of the perfect ingredients for our skin.
